JACK BEATS
Jack Beats Bio
The brainchild of Beni G (Mixologists) and Plus One (Scratch Perverts), a production duo from London, UK who are not only veterans of the music scene but also multiple DJ champions, and award winning DJs. Jack Beats represents everything you love about the new wave of British house music. Wobbly basslines, big breakdowns and edgy accapella’s are cut, copied and pasted together to create a floor-filling brand of house that’s bound to rock the foundations of any club to its very core. Citing influences as diverse as Timbaland, Rage Against the Machine, A Guy Called Gerald and Sebastian, the two began to hone a style fusing House, Hip Hop, Drum & Bass and Dubstep with Electro and Baltimore Club, and what emerged was a cutting edge sound. It blurred the lines between all these genres, as well as taking influence from old school hip hop, garage and rave, to current grime, bassline/figit house and dubstep. In essence they carved their sound as futuristic, hybrid, bass music for clubs without boundaries. The British duo demanded immediate attention after their gob-smacking take on Boy 8-Bit’s anthem Fogbank dropped in early 2008. What followed were bass-heavy collaborations with Deekline and Wizard, refixes of Trip’s guitar-driven Who’s That?, the now classic AC Slater remix and the unforgettable transformation of Epic Last Song by Does It Offend You, Yeah? into a classic pop-dance tune. So much so, they quickly are becoming the in demand remixers of the moment, with everything they rework getting turned into a dancefloor hit. Now the newest member of the Cheap Thrills camp (home also to head honcho Herve as well as Sinden, Detboi, Fake Blood, Machines Don’t Care) and a firm favourite for lovers of all things glitchy and fidgety, Jack Beats are set to release their widely anticipated original material at the end on 2008/early 2009.

AC SLATER

The King of Heavy Bass House in America

AC Slater has begun a lengthy career for himself with his "Night Bass" sound by fusing elements of house music with the dirty basslines of UK garage and sprinkles of old-school rave synths and breaks.

AC Slater's career kicked off with a bang in 2008, with his seminal remix of "Turn the Music Up" on Trouble & Bass becoming an instant anthem. Moby listed it as one of the best 10 tracks of the decade, declaring it a "perfect song." AC has collaborated with influential underground artists such as Nina Sky all the way to chart toppers like Far East Movement, and has done official remixes for the likes of Big Sean, Moby, Robin S. and many more. A quick look at Slater's Beatport page reveals well over 100 tracks and remixes over the last five years, including his best-selling Jack Got Jacked EP, a blatant declaration of the invasion of house music by all things bass (and the start of a lengthy friendship with Jack Beats).

Fast forward to the present, AC has toured the globe several times and his tunes have been played at every major festival and club in the world by DJs including Skrillex, Diplo, 12th Planet, Jack Beats, and so many more. Slater's tunes and guest mixes can regularly be heard on major radio stations across the world, including the UK's BBC Radio 1 and Rinse FM and Australia's Triple J. His crew Trouble & Bass and his own record label Party Like Us continue to release some of the most groundbreaking and forward-thinking bass-heavy dance music in the underground.

HANNAH WANTS

“Hannah Wants (aka Hannah Alicia Smith) is a star rapidly rising through the ranks not just in Birmingham but throughout the UK and beyond.” - music blog.

Miss Wants, notorious for her hard-hitting bass house style, is a self taught DJ from Birmingham. Over the past few years a new genre of house music has quickly risen to the forefront of the scene with Hannah securely taking the reigns as its leading lady.

Hannah was brought up surrounded by a wide variety of music. Her family introduced her to an eclectic mix of sounds; soul, R&B, rock, indie, 80’s, 90’s, electro and house all at a very young and impressionable age. At age 17, armed with a cross genre assortment of musical knowledge, a mixer and pair of Numark belt drive decks, an expanding vinyl collection and impressive ambition Hannah found her talent.

Despite being hugely creative at the decks, the mystery of Hannah’s stage name was born from a slightly less inventive place. Liking the letter ‘W’ and searching through a list of words in the dictionary is Hannah’s exciting account of the birth of her surprisingly ingenious alias ‘Hannah Wants’.

In 2010 Hannah dedicated her summer to Ibiza to a gain a concrete reputation as a house music DJ. Her unique and commanding style had a profound and powerful impact on clubbers and her peers. As a result she soon found herself in high demand gaining residencies, winning competitions and playing at prestigious events and venues across Ibiza.

The hype surrounding Miss Wants followed her home from the clubbing capital, and with each and every set played her popularity flourished across the UK. Locally Hannah became a focal DJ at Birmingham’s 2.31 and 10.31 Rainbow Warehouse event and began to truly showcase her talent and authority at the decks.

In April 2013, Hannah’s track ‘Dappy’ was released through Food Music. It found worldwide success and support and firmly established Hannah as a musical force to be reckoned with. Interestingly the name ‘Dappy’ found its title due to another bout of genius similar to that of ‘Wants’. Hannah and Chris Lorenzo were in the studio to remix one of Dappy’s (N-Dubz) tracks. Proving unsuccessful, they instead began playing around with sounds, in doing so they fell across the signature ‘Dappy’ bassline riff and a soon to be infamous track.

Since then Hannah’s tracks and mixes have continued to create waves, gaining momentum with every release. One thing, amongst many, that sets Wants apart from other DJ’s is her continued free music that she pushes out to her followers. The gratitude felt by Hannah for the support she receives is infinite, bi-monthly Hannah releases a meticulously crafted 24+ track ‘mixtape’ on her SoundCloud page as a free download for all to enjoy encompassing her favourite current tracks, taking you on a journey from start to finish.

In 2013 Hannah signed with Echo Location Talent Agency, firmly asserting her status alongside the UK’s leading DJ’s, producers and songwriters. Dates at some of the biggest events and venues across the world have followed, racking up an impressive diary.

The future looks limitless for Miss Wants with a newfound status the true result of a well earned and dedicated effort – her ability to continually surprise and blow the eardrums of all who hear her work will undeniably keep Hannah at the top of her game.

KRY WOLF

Kry Wolf are fast becoming recognised as one of the UK's big underground players due to their distinctively creative and varied production style and consistently strong releases. The duo are also behind some of the biggest parties ever thrown on the south coast through uber brand Sumo, not to mention putting out some of the freshest new talent on their own label Sounds of Sumo.

Obsessively putting in the studio hours, their productions have ranged from house, garage, tech, funky to experimental as they continually refuse to be pigeon-holed. With names like Zinc, Mary Anne Hobbs, A-Trak, Sub Focus, The Martin Brothers, Mosca, AC Slater, Dave Spoon, Buraka Som Sistema, Lil Silva and Roska dropping their tracks, the word of the Wolf is spreading fast.

Regular residencies at some of the south coast's biggest club nights, a spot at Fabric, two Bestival performances and production work for labels a-plenty, the boys are keeping pretty busy. You can certainly expect more big releases, remixes and collaborations from these boys in the near future, as well as continuing to impress international crowds with their DJ sets.
