Ger Costelloe and Band
Ger Costelloe released his first solo album “Letting in Water” in November of 2013.
Ger along with The Band will be appearing at: Dolans Limerick
Ger will be joined by Eoin Callanan Electric guitar, harmonica and vocals. Neil Barry Bass Guitar and vocals. Doug Murray (ex Woodstar) Drums, percussion and vocals.
Ger Costelloe has written, produced and played all the instruments on “Letting in Water” and provided all vocals. The cover artwork is taken from an original painting by Ger Costelloe. Tracks of interest include “The Dying Soldier” as recorded by Christy Moore on “Ride On”. Other commendable tracks include “The Wisest People”, “Silence of a Crowded City” and “Babylon Girls”.
“Letting in Water” has received critical and artistic acclaim in the UK and U.S.A.. Speaking from New York Malachy McCourt has described the album as "One of sheer genius throughout. From the composition to the performance to the cover art. A wonderful piece of work"
The album has also received excellent reviews in prestigious UK music magazines Rock & Reel Magazine and The Maverick Folk and Country magazine.
Born in Limerick, Ger Costelloe has written songs for artists such as Christy Moore, and bands such as The Outfit and The O’Malley’s. He has also written film scores for The McCourt’s of New York and the American T.V. documentary Four Cops.
Ger’s influences are many; including blues artist such as Lightnin’ Hopkins, Muddy Waters, John Lee Hooker. Folk influences from Sandy Denny to Richie Havens and Reggae acts like Burning Spear and Misty in Roots. All of these influences can be heard on this eclectic collection of songs.
