Party: Outlines Festival 2016 // Plug // Roots Manuva / Loyle Carner / more tbc!

We are delighted to announce that the hugely influential UK bass music pioneer Roots Manuva will headline the first ever Outlines Festival, set to take place in Sheffield on Saturday 27th February.

Outlines has been put together by the makers of Tramlines and, like its older cousin, will take place across a range of venues in Sheffield City Centre. Venues will range from established spaces like Plug, Queens Social Club, o2 Academy 2 and The Harley to more unusual areas, including the city's roller rink, where festival-goers will have the chance to strap their skates on while the bands play.

With his sixth studio album Bleeds out now on Big Dada/Ninja Tune, Roots Manuva will bring his pioneering and genre-defying hip-hop to Outlines' Main Stage at Plug. One of the true originals of British music, Rodney Smith’s influence can be heard across the musical landscape. Now, with Bleeds, he has made his most emotionally affecting and powerful release to date. With production from Four Tet, Switch's new production team, Adrian Sherwood and more, Bleeds also builds on a long career of collaboration, with Roots Manuva having worked with artists from Gorillaz, the Maccabees and Micachu to Dawn Penn, Leftfield and the Cinematic Orchestra.

Meanwhile, the genre-spanning lineup for the first ever Outlines will also showcase a host of emerging talent, with a number of exciting new artists - including the likes of Georgia, Loyle Carner, PINS, Oscar and Kagoule - also announced to play.

South Londoner Loyle Carner's innovative and introspective hip-hop has seen him tipped as 'one to watch' for 2016. Another highlight comes in the form of multi-instrumentalist, producer and Domino Records signing Georgia, who established herself playing drums for Kwes and Kate Tempest before emerging as an irresistible creative force in her own right, channeling elements of early 00’s grime, dub, post-punk and hip-hop. Post-punk fans, though, will find much to love in Kagoule's warped lyricism, dynamic noise-rock and fuzzed-out harmonies, as the Nottingham trio continue on their path towards DIY notoriety.
