After a short summer break spent basking in the sunshine on the Stray, Harrogate’s long running comedy club returns on SATURDAY 10TH SEPTEMBER with yet another line up of comedians to rival the big London clubs.
Over the last twenty years the list of acts that have played the Hyena Lounge reads like a who’s who of comedy: from John Bishop to Sarah Millican, Mickey Flannigan to Russell Howard, Ross Noble to Alan Carr and within the last twelve months alone the likes of Katherine Ryan, Stephen K Amos and Chris Ramsey. It’s no wonder that the club is held in such regard and continues to be rated so highly by acts and audiences alike.
The show on SATURDAY 10TH SEPTEMBER features, as usual, four of the best comedians in the country starring:
JUSTIN MOORHOUSE who was one of the stars of Peter Kay’s ‘Phoenix Night’ and this ever popular comedian has performed his material on ‘Live At The Apollo’ and ‘Michael McIntyre’s Comedy Roadshow’ as well as being a regular host on Radio 5’s ‘Fighting Talk’ and star of his own show on Radio 4. A firm favourite with Harrogate audiences his recent run at the Edinburgh Fringe was described as ’not a moment without laughter, he smashed the hour out of the park’ in a glowing review on influential comedy website, Chortle.
STEVE WILLIAMS comes to Harrogate fresh from spending August at The Edinburgh Fringe performing in a double headliner show alongside the arena-filling Russell Howard. A Chortle Award nominee and BBC New Comedy Award Finalist, Steve is one of the most exciting and electrifying live performers on the comedy circuit, never failing to surprise and engage audiences with his hybrid of bizarre stories, larger than life physicality, spontaneous improvisation and his off-the-wall take on everyday life.
His TV credits include appearances on ‘Russell Howard’s Good News’, ‘Michael McIntyre’s Comedy Roadshow’, and ‘The Comedy Store’ whilst on radio he has recently stood in for Frank Skinner on Frank Skinner’s Absolute Radio Show.
VINCE ATTA is a regular headline comedian on the UK comedy circuit who now mixes his well-honed material along with incredible improvisational skills as he uses cutting edge technology to create live on-the-spot songs. Hilariously fusing this with natural stand-up, storytelling and characters, he is admired by audiences and peers alike; this unique, talented and incredibly funny act has to be seen to be believed!
‘One of the circuit's most promising acts.’ -The Guardian
KATIE MULGREW supported The Boy with Tape on His Face on his latest UK tour and recently won the Liverpool Hope playwriting Prize with her winning play currently in development with the Liverpool Royal Court Theatre.
On TV she got to be very silly indeed on a couple of episodes of the CBBC show, ‘The Dog Ate My Homework’ and she recently co-hosted ‘Lovefix’ for ITV, whilst on radio she writes for Radio 4’s ‘News Quiz’ and was featured on the BBC Radio 2 documentary series ‘The History of British Comedy.
On stage her dulcet Northern tones hide a ferocious brain and her inquisitive audience banter is a joy to behold.
