Mike Penny & his Moonshiners have wholly dedicated themselves to the traditional western swing and hillbilly of the 40s and 50s.

Everything is authentic with this band, from instruments, to outfit, sound and music. The band was founded by Mike Penny in 2008. The first CD “Don’t Start Breathin’ Down My Neck” was put out by Rhythm Bomb Records in 2010. With their second album “Texas Boogie” Mike Penny & his Moonshiners have spiced up the mix with a pinch of rockabilly roughness. Howdy & Yeehaw!!

Along with the great instrumentalists, it is Mike Penny’s distinctive voice above all that marks out the band as a trailblazer — one that is likely to influence others making music in a similar vein. Whether it be melancholic, demanding, in crooner style or simply rocking — Mike Penny gives his all on every cut and definitely belongs to the best singers in the German scene. This is a band that knows how to rock every club and every live stage—which they have proven in spades at big festivals such as the Rockabilly Rave and Rhythm Riot in England or the Summer Jamboree in Italy.
