"A seriously good band containing six of Britain's finest jazz musicians, regardless of age or style" - Dave Gelly, Observer
Matt Wates alto sax, Steve Fishwick trumpet, Steve Main tenor sax, Leon Greening piano, Malcolm Creese bass, Matt Skelton drums
The sextet has been together for over a dozen years which shows in its developed cohesion and easy interaction. Together they form the finest and most enduring Sextet in Britain, as Steve Voce says "quite simply the best British band in years"
Matt Wates is a master of melodic swinging music, and intelligent humour. Many of his original compositions have an instant familiarity, as though meeting old friends.
The sextet is graced with top trumpeter Steve Fishwick, NYJO grad Steve Main on tenor, one of our favourite pianists in Leon Greening, the superb Malcom Creese on bass, and "go to" drummer Matt Skelton.
SIX OF THE VERY BEST! "The future of jazz is safe with guys like this around" Barry Witherden, BBC Music Magazine
