Party: INTENSIVE SWING DANCE WORKSHOPS

INTENSIVE WORKSHOPS - SUNDAY 8TH FEBRUARY
These workshops are suitable for complete beginners, newer dancers who to want to get to grips with 8 count Lindy Hop and Collegiate Shag and for more experienced dancers who want to master and perfect their basics. It is also recommended for dancers who have done other swing styles and want to get to grips with this authentic "Hollywood Style" dance and/or Collegiate Shag.
These workshops are designed to teach and reinforce social dance skills, therefore we insist on partner rotation in these workshops.

INTRO TO 8 COUNT LINDY HOP (11am - 2pm)
This workshop is based around the 8 count rhythm pattern and in particular The Whip (or Lindy Turn) which is the foundation stone of the dance. We start from first principles teaching, lead and follow techniques, rhythm, footwork, movement and styling.

INTRO TO COLLEGIATE SHAG (2.30pm - 5.30pm)
Collegiate Shag was one of the most popular dances of the 1930’s. It is a wild crazy dance that was a favourite with the college kids of the period - hence the name. It’s a great for faster swing and jazz numbers but also works well with Western Swing, Rockabilly and Rockin’ Blues from the 1950s. We will be teaching everything you need to know to get up on the dance floor and start shagging
