There's definitely a bit of breeze about today – currently due easterly but forecast to veer southerly later. Which means that at least for the first and last couple of kms tonight we're potentially dealing with somewhere between a bit of chop and really rather a lot of chop! We'll be heading out against an ebb tide then coming home into a fair old cross-headwind, which will take some effort both ways. And it's getting pretty dark pretty quick too – so please give this week a miss if you're not completely sure you can handle the conditions. (Of course it might yet turn out lovely, and it's not going to be abject craziness out there, but nevertheless it could still plausibly be enough to test even many of our regular paddlers at times...) Anyway, what's the plan? Meeting by 6pm at Two Tree slipway, www.supsect.com/two-tree-island (the beach inspector seems to have abandoned ship for the season now so no need to worry about any subterfuge!) neither the tide nor sunset are hanging around so please don't be late for a 6.10pm launch, as ever newest paddlers / shortest boards first through to full-on / raceboarders last. We'd expect the front of the group to make Benfleet Yacht Club soon after sunset, but regardless, everyone turns at 6.50pm by which time we're into the second hour of the outgoing tide which will help us home into the wind... Then we should be off the water around dusk, in plenty of time to catch dinner and drinks in Old Leigh.
